Convocation presentations aimed to address current needs and trends of Middle Division students
Coordinate Middle Division fall and spring events to support division-wide bonding
Design and facilitate Self-Care Week prior to midterm and/or final exams, offering psychoeducation and science-backed stress management skills for students
Direct skill-building: conflict resolution, emotional regulation, social skills, perspective taking, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism
Sixth Grade Orientation: support with bonding activities, social-emotional skills, and self-advocacy skills
Gender-specific grade-level meetings at the beginning of the year, during Advisory, about common stressors to anticipate: language, expectations for behavior on campus, as well as social media concerns
Advisory
Advisory program with emphasis on developmentally relevant character education, leadership skill-building, and social/emotional learning
Facilitate grade-level breakout groups with other Middle Division faculty members through Advisory to address ways students can be their best selves as members of the Middle Division community
Topics include bullying prevention, kindness, inclusion, stress-management, social media, peer pressure, boundaries, etc.
Mental Health/Social-Emotional Curriculum
Design mental health lessons to be delivered through the seventh grade health curriculum
Navigate program: where students anonymously share concerns about self or others
Parent Education
Share information with parents through the Middle Division Newsletter, such as trending and relevant articles, books, and other resources, as well as tips to specifically support adolescents
Present at Middle Division grade-level Parent Coffees, New Student Orientation, and other events about anticipated and current developmental needs, trends, and experiences
Faculty Collaboration and Support
Transitional meetings from Lower Division to Middle Division and Middle Division to Upper Division to ensure alignment of support, services, and needs of incoming students
Guidance and consultation with Middle Division faculty, staff, and families to support the varying social/emotional needs and development of students
Regular collaboration with grade-level Academic Deans and the Learning Support Specialist to provide all-around support to ensure personal and emotional success in and out of the classroom
