Counseling Mission
At Berkeley Preparatory School, dedicated personal counselors in each division strive to ensure every student is known, nurtured, and well. The counselors support students’ social/emotional development through school-based personal counseling services, age-appropriate programming, and collaboration with faculty, families, and outside stakeholders as needed to help students attain their highest potential as human beings.
Overview of Counseling Services

Provide developmentally appropriate individual and small group school-based counseling services, focusing on social, emotional, psychological, and personal development

Deliver social/emotional programming based on developmental milestones

Direct skill-building for students in areas including but not limited to: conflict resolution, emotional regulation, social skills, perspective taking, self-esteem, and positive mental health

Support campus life through involvement with events and divisional programming

Partner with faculty, administrators, and families to promote student well-being

Collaborate with local independent school counselors, participate in professional development opportunities, and engage in professional organizations to ensure that best practices are utilized as counselors

Assist students and their families with resource referrals to connect with external mental health providers and other community mental health resources as needed

Facilitate parent discussion in small groups for the Berkeley Speaker Series program
